28th - 29th July 2018 AGM details
Its our 40th AGM! Don't miss out on this one as the Club celebrates its 40th birthday. The weekend includes : — the AGM, CONCORDE, SCENIC RUN, TUNNELS, BANDS, SURPRISES, FOOD, STALLS, BARGES, FREEBIES, QUAINT VILLAGE, RARE CARS, CAR SHOW, COMMENTARY, PRIZES and of course — BIRTHDAY CAKE!
In celebration of this milestone we have an action packed weekend that isn't going to break the bank. As ever we will have the formal AGM but this only forms a small part of a two day packed weekend of activities!
The formal AGM is always an important occasion giving you chance to discuss the running of the Club and its future. The agenda will be online later — please let the Chairman know if you have any agenda items.
If you cannot stay overnight we will be delighted to welcome you during the day as your opinion matters greatly.
For the 2018 AGM we are returning to the roots of the Club — back to the North West for the first time in 11 years. We have a great hotel with much reduced room rates compared to 2017. We have moved the event to later in the year when we hope for 'warmer days'!
This year's AGM takes place in the Cheshire area on the weekend of 28th — 29th July. Our chosen hotel is set in beautiful gardens and comprises a traditional farmhouse which has been extended and improved and now offers an array of charming en-suite rooms. There is a huge car park away from the road for our cars.
What we are doing.
Most members will stay Friday night but this isn't essential. We want the weekend to fit into your busy lives so there is an element of flexibility.
After breakfast on Saturday morning those staying at the hotel we will head directly to Manchester airport where we have our own private parking area. The route to the airport is largely down country lanes due to the local knowledge of our organiser — but crucially we approach via the two airport tunnels — allowing you to hear multiple S800 engines bouncing off the tunnel walls!
We then spend most of the day at the airport where we will hold the formal AGM and have our lunch. We have even arranged a trip on Concorde whilst we are there!
We then return back to the hotel for a 40th birthday party on Saturday night with several surprises!
On Sunday after breakfast we head south (which is the right direction for quite a few of you!) to a village green where cars are gathering for a classic car show.
At 11.00 the cars depart in convoy past the massed throngs of cheering crowds to line up at the main car show venue in a nearby village. This is an idyllic location with lots of different place to have lunch at. There is a live band, various pubs and stalls, a display of historic canal boats — some of which can be visited — and some 300 plus cars to look at in the main car show. It's all very compact and friendly and we are sure you will be delighted in this part of the weekend.
The show closes at 4.00 although you can leave earlier if you have a long distance to travel. You could even return back to the AGM hotel if you want a third night in the area.
How to book.
We have negotiated special rates for our AGM hotel as follows. Please note these are BOOK NOW — PAY ON DEPARTURE so we would recommend you book as soon as possible as it will cost you 'zilch' upfront and it is possible that the rooms will all be taken if you leave it too long.
Single room (B&B): £54 each night
Double room (B&B): £69.50 each night
(in other words just £35 B&B each for sharers! — a good reason to bring your long suffering better half).
The cost of dinner on the Saturday night will be about £25.00.
These special rates are only available to Club members — please click here to download the document relating to the AGM.
