26 July: Audlem Transport Festival
Sadly another great event has had to be cancelled due to Covid 19. The organisers have said they will be going ahead in 2021.
This annual event was to be held again in 2020 and was actually the destination for our 40th anniversary weekend of fun on the Sunday in 2018. We are now looking forward to 2021.
If anyone would like to attend again — now in 2021 — then please read on:
In late 26th July classic cars gather on the village green in the nearby village of Hankelow before setting off to line up on the playing fields of Audlem. The route between the villages is closed to the public and the convoy of classic vehicles pass through the lanes and into the village of Audlem where an enthusiastic crowd lines the streets cheering the procession.
At the Church there is a running commentary on the cars as they arrive by a very knowledgeable local expert.
Upon lining up in the playing field there is plenty of opportunity to view the cars, visit the stalls, listen to the live music or wander down to the canal to see the display of historic narrowboats which attend at the same weekend.
A fantastic event in a friendly village atmosphere and highly recommended.
