Club display facing Cascades corner, Oulton Park

We will be at The Gold Cup in our usual position facing towards Cascades. Look out for our white, grey and red gazebo – in the same colours as the website!

The Gold Cup is the North West's premier historic race meeting which attracts a huge field of widely diverse classic racing machinery. Whilst the main days are Saturday and Sunday, you can also access the practice sessions on Friday 29th July.

This year the Gold Cup will be celebrating its 70th Anniversary and will feature a superb on-track line-up celebrating the best of historic motorsport. along with premium categories from the Historic Sports Car Club.

The Gold Cup will also include some very special guest categories from Motor Racing Legends, the Classic Sports Car Club, the Vintage Sports-Car Club, Ferrari Owners Club Classic, Historic Grand Prix Cars Association, and the return of 500cc single seater racing with the 500 Owners Association.

Away from the circuit there will be lots to see too, with the return of the Gold Cup Youngtimers display, and a major car auction from Hampson Auctions, together with a stunning display from the Cheshire Concours D'esprit. Music from the 20s through to the swinging 60s will present all weekend at the Vintage Music Festival. The Oulton Park Exhibition will return with a magnificent selection of artwork, memorabilia and photography, a stunning display of Vintage Tractors with more to be announced soon!

Cars generating interest.

Local Classic Car Clubs make a big effort to show off their cars at this event. There is a large turnout of classic cars and owners no doubt attracted by the reduced price tickets on offer.

Successful car display applicants will receive 1 x Vehicle Display pass which includes half price admission for the driver and passenger (the discounted passenger ticket is only available when purchased at same time as the vehicle display pass).

This year we should have at least 4 cars on display plus a number of members and Honda S800 enthusiasts – don't miss this event!

For more details about what the meeting is all about can be found here- click here. Alternatively contact us for more information.

You can attend on any of the three days of the event – or any combination thereof. Please note that the tickets are an E-ticket – print off at home. Generally the entrance ticket can be printed as soon as you have paid but the vehicle pass is issued about a week beforehand, again via a print at home system.

Please note the closing date for applications (i.e. to submit your car for approval) is Monday 22nd July at Midday, and the last day to complete your booking is Thursday 25th July at 4pm. You will not be able to complete any bookings after this date.

As regular members may be aware the Club has attended this event for some 25 years with a car display, but prior to that we had members racing their S800s around this fantastic picturesque circuit during the 1980's and 1990's.

As we have outlined above our own Tony Sighe is returning to the circuit with his green coupe (!) but going back even further, a local friend, motorsport scribe and photographer was there back in 1967.

He reports that none other than John Surtees CBE was driving the Honda RA273 V12 engined F1 car at the Gold Cup! – and has supplied the photographic evidence to prove it!!
