The Gold Cup is the North West's premier historic race meeting which attracts a huge field of widely diverse classic racing machinery. Whilst the main days are Saturday and Sunday, you can also access the practice sessions on Friday 29th July.

Local Classic Car Clubs make a big effort to show off their cars at this event which is positioned towards the end of the Classic Car season. There is a large turnout of classic cars and owners no doubt attracted by the reduced price tickets on offer. Couple this with artisan market stalls, live music, great food, a classic car auction, the Concours D'Esprit and the exemplary presentation of the Oulton Park circuit under the stewardship of Dr. Jonathan Palmer and you have an event not to be missed!

Sunday racing starts at 12.00 noon allowing the local residents a bit of peace and quiet before the classic engines roar into life. This allows us the morning to chat and browse the stalls selling spares, memorabilia, clothing and model cars as well as wandering around the 1,000 plus cars in the Classic Car display.

With practice taking place on Friday this leaves the weekend allocated for virtually full days of racing. At lunchtime there is typically a demonstration of racing machinery. In the past this has included the Le Mans winning Bentley but in 2021 a pair of Lotus and Renault F1 cars were driven around entertaining the crowds with their high revving engines.

Sorry there are no 'free' tickets these days – but your entrance ticket is reduced to half price for those showing their cars.
