4 May 2024: Goodwood Sprint
One S800 competing.
Can anyone remember the Club organising an International Meeting here back in 1982? Well the presentation of the circuit has changed a lot since those days under the expert stewardship of his Grace, the Duke of Richmond.
On 4th May, Tony Sighe will return to this famous circuit to compete in the Goodwood Bailey Sprint in an S800.
The car is the ex John Counsell/Steve Drewery Green coupe that was raced successfully in the 1980s and early 90s.
The public are welcome to spectate on the day and Tony will be very pleased to see you, and show you around the car in the paddock.
The car will be running in the 'up to 1100cc' class. There are many classes and a real mix of exotic, classic and interesting machinery to see on the day. Tony will get to record 3 timed runs on the day. We don't expect the S800 to break any lap records, but people will be very interested to see and 'hear' one on the track.
Tony will also be at Goodwood on Friday 3rd May attending a track day (sneaky practice laps) and will be happy to give passenger rides on the circuit to anybody that comes along to support him.
There's been little S800 action on track for over 20 years and the likelihood is even less as these cars become increasingly rare.
Tony and Julian Hayward are planning to race in the HSCC Road Sports Championship later in the year when the car (and drivers) are working properly and up to speed.
